Seeking EOI from Mackay-based employers in an accommodation precinct
Conversations that have taken place after the Greater Whitsunday Housing Summit in August have highlighted an opportunity for an accommodation precinct at Mackay Airport and Mackay Airport Pty Ltd is now inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified and interested groups looking to lease accommodation within a prospective accommodation precinct on airport land.
Mackay Airport sits at the heart of the Central Queensland resource centre and is adjacent to the popular Whitsundays tourist destination.
Mackay Airport welcomes more than 850,000 passengers each year, with more than 70 flights arriving and departing each week, operated by Jetstar, Qantas, Virgin Australia and Bonza. With a long and proud history of working with the community, Mackay Airport promotes the role tourism and business plays in the region through meaningful and relevant partnerships.
Mackay Airport continues to plan for growth and is actively implementing a number of key infrastructure programs, including a major car park expansion.
Project Overview:
As a crucial gateway to the Mackay region, Mackay Airport is committed to supporting economic growth and enhancing the overall experience for workers and residents alike. To this end, we are exploring the potential overall demand for development of a permanent workers accommodation precinct on a designated portion of airport land.
Key Project Details:
Location: The accommodation precinct will be strategically located within the airport precinct, offering convenient access to the airport terminal and nearby industrial areas.
Leasing Opportunities: This EOI is aimed at groups seeking to lease accommodation units within the potential accommodation village. We are keen to see the development of high-quality and flexible accommodation options that cater to the diverse needs of the region's workforce through a mixture of studio, 1 bed and 2 bedroom units.
Facilities and Amenities: The accommodation precinct will be designed to offer modern amenities and transportation options, ensuring the comfort and convenience of residents.
Expression of Interest Process: Interested groups are invited to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) by the end of November.

Selection Process: Mackay Airport Pty Ltd will evaluate the EOIs received based on their alignment with our project's objectives and financial viability to potentially move onto the next steps of the development.
